RiskCAT, from CATS Software Tools GmbH, is a tool for rapid and intuitive navigation of the standard, including selection of appropriate measures for a specific project and calculation of the appropriate SILs (Safety Integrity Levels) The new version 6 of RiskCAT61508 includes, as an optional component, a module for comparing IEC 61508 Edition 2 (2010) against Edition 1 (1998 until 2000). It also has an improved user interface, the option to compare different SILs as well as improvements in the definition of SILs. |

Segger Launch USB-Host
In line with all SEGGER middleware components, emUSB host delivers high performance, low footprint and runtime configurability. It follows the same strict, efficient coding standards as the other SEGGER middleware products, resulting in an efficient, portable and easily readable code. Written in ANSI C, the emUSB host stack can be used on any platform. It requires no configuration and runs out-of-the-box.
“Unlike other USB host stacks, the emUSB host stack has been designed specifically for embedded systems,” says Rolf Segger, founder and CTO of SEGGER. “Its modular design allows the stack to meet the requirements of most embedded application.”
The stack conforms to USB 2.0 and supports control, bulk and interrupt transfer modes at low, full and high speed. It supports hubs, multiple devices as well as multi-interface devices. The stack comes with HID and MSD class drivers. Additional class drivers such as printer, communication (CDC) and audio are already under development.
The stack works seamlessly with SEGGER’s RTOS “embOS”, the MSD class driver with SEGGER’s emFile file system. Other RTOS and file systems can be supported through an adoption layer.
Certified SIL3 tool chain for ARM
The SCIOPTA ARM RTOS kernel has been certified to SIL3 when used with for use with the IAR Systems ARM C Compiler, Assembler and Linker. To be precise, SCIOPTA ARM IEC 61508-P3 Safety Kernel has been certified by TÜV Munich to the IEC 61508 standard at Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) and is available for all ARM®7/9 and XScale based Microprocessors. TÜV has tested Version 1.9.5 of the kernel according to IEC 61508-1:1998, IEC 61508-3:1998, IEC 61508-4:1998 and EN 50128:2001 |

new UK Distributor March 2009
Relex Software a leading provider of
reliability and maintainability software analysis tools and expertise, has announced the
appointment of Phaedrus Systems as an authorised distributor in the United Kingdom.

Segger J-Link Pro Launch Feb 09
JTAG ARM emulator adds Ethernet capability
Phaedrus Systems is now shipping the J-Link ARM Pro, a high performance JTAG emulator for a wide range of ARM architectures. Based on the successful SEGGER J-Link emulator, the J-Link ARM Pro has an Ethernet interface, allowing complete electrical isolation between host and target and remote operation, additional memory for increased firmware downloads and two additional LEDs to act as hardware status indicators.
